The end of a year ~ The start of a new year!

Well I started this blog last year with the intention of keeping everyone up to date as to what was going on through the blog. However that was not something that worked out for us in 2009. One of my new year's resolutions is to keep this blog fairly up to date by posting something on here at least once a week.

2009 has been a year full of ups and downs for our family. We moved in with my parents in March and were very fortunate that we were able to stay with them until the beginning of November when we found our very own home with LOTS and LOTS of room for our family. Living with my parents worked out well, as the kids had access to Nanny and Pappy on a daily basis which was good for them and I believe Nanny and Pappy enjoyed it some as well.

Chad is still working at B-Line and they just got a new 3 year contract so we hope that all will remain the same as far as that goes. He was promoted from LT to CPT and then to Asst. Chief during this past year with our local Fire Dept. This is something he is very passionate about and loves to do. He still loves to hunt and spend lots of time outside when he has the spare time to do so. He was able to go Muddin' a few times this year which is by far one of our favorite past times!!!!!

Colton is growing by leaps and bounds and is loving going to school 3 days a week! He will be 5 in Feb. and can't wait to start Kindergarten next year so he can actually ride the bus :) I laugh at this as I know all to soon he will no longer think riding the bus is cool and he will want me to take him to school and pick him up from school as well.........LOL At his checkup this year, he was in the 95% of children his height. I think he going to be a tall boy like his Dad,Pappy, and his Uncles. He loves the new house and really loves the fact that he has his very own room. He wants to decorate it with Firetrucks and Monster Trucks. One of our home projects for the new year will be painting his room and getting it all set up the way he (we) would like!

Callye is my rough and tumble princess, she loves to play dress up but loves to get dirty as well! She will soon be 3 and that does not seem possible. She is very petite and I believe she gets that from her favorite Auntie Em! She will get to go to preschool next year 2 days a week and is so excited she can hardly wait. We already have a backpack picked out and she would really like it if I would let her carry it around everyday. She loves that fact that she now has her own room as well and wants flowers and butterflies to decorate, so this to will be one of our home projects after the first of the year.

Well as for myself I have been busy as usually, I think it just comes natural and is in my blood. I love to volunteer my time and help out whenever and wherever I can. I am the Village Clerk in our little town of Mulberry Grove. I am still on the Fairboard and the Director of the Queen Pageant as well. I love helping young ladies and seeing them transform during the summer into something so much more from being involved in the pageant. I have gained many new "daughters"/ friends while doing this. I volunteered for the local Toys for Joy program again this year and loved every minute of it. I have now been with the Probation Dept for a little over 11 years and love my job. Some days are better than others but that is with any job as we all know.

I think this pretty much sums up the Earnest Family for right now.........be on the lookout for my weekley (maybe) more posts on our Family Blog!!!!!

P.S. Pics will be added soon!!!

Weekend in Springfield

Well, I just returned late Sunday evening or rather early Monday morning from my weekend trip in Springfield. I attended the IAAF Convention and State Queen Pageant. It was a very long, but ver wonderful weekend. Lauren, Judy and I arrived on Thursday at the Crowne Plaza to find out that not all of the rooms were ready and we would have to wait a bit to get all of our things unloaded. Lauren and I went ahead and went on in to get checked in and find out what floor and room would be in. We got up and settled into our room a short while later and started getting prepared to head downstairs for the first official roll call of the Queens! From there Lauren went with 64 other beautiful Queens to have the official pictures taken in the evening gown and swimsuit. Afterwords all the Queens returned to have a lil' party with Queen Molly and to work on the production number for Sunday night. I was able to pick Lauren up about 9:30 and get her back to the room, to get rested up and prepared for her interviews on Friday. The interviews went really well, and Lauren felt really good about them. They asked her about Trap Shooting, Working at the Motel, Extracurricular activities, and being the County Queen! From there she was able to join Judy, and I for dinner at the Hotel. We were also joined by Macon County Pageant Director Melissa Muirheid, she and I have become good friends over the past year. Well Friday evening turned into a whirlwind of other activities, while at dinner Melissa recieved a call from her Queen's mother. They were in the ER, they were pretty sure Kenzie had broken her foot. After several hours of waiting, she was able to be seen and found out that she had in fact broken the 5th metatarsal in her foot. She returned to the Hotel in the wee hours of the morning and slept in. However, she got up and moving around later on in the day, and got up on that 70 foot stage in 1 high heel and crutches and competed!!!! She was amazing, beyond belief I know that there is no way I could have done such a thing!!!!!!! Saturday, morning Lauren competed in the morning prelims while a Large group of her "Fans" cheered her on! She was suprised to find her best friend Amy and her friend Mandy sitting near the runway cheering her on as well as several Fairboard members and Family members along with past Bond County Fair Queens!!! She spent Saturday afternoon with her parents and friends eating lunch and visiting. She came back to the room to rest for awhile, while her mom and I went down and watched the evening prelims. She was back on stage late Saturday evening for the Grand March, we went back to the room and hung out while we waited for our pizza to arrive. We were all able to sleep in on Sunday and I attended a meeting while she went to her final practice. Afterwards we were all able to attend the Queen's Luncheon with a Devotional Service. Queen Molly was able to talk about her year representing not only the Georgetown Fair but the IAAF and the MICF system. Afterwards we headed back upstairs to relax for a bit and get our bags packed to head home after the banquet!

We headed down to get our seats, to await the big announcement the top 12 finalists and the 5 non-finalists awards. MISS BOND COUNTY, QUEEN LAUREN GALL WAS NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF THE RUBY CRUM MEMORIAL AWARD! I could not have been more proud of her at the moment, then the moment she was crowned at our local pageant. I screamed so loud, I was hoarse on Monday. After I quit screaming and yelling for her, I began to cry tears of happiness. My heart was beaming with PRIDE, she had showed everyone that she was the sweetest, kindest, charmful, and enthusiastic person that we all knew that she was!

The Start of 2009

Welcome Everyone to our page. I have decided to start this blog to keep everyone up to date on the happenings in our family and surounding area. I hope this will be just as fun for everyone to read and view photos, as it will be for me to update.

Well so far 2009 has been a good year for the Earnest Family, we are blessed with 2 very great children who keep us on our toes most of the time. Here is a little bit about what is going on with each one of us.

Chad was recently promoted from Lieut. to Capt. at the Fire Dept. He spends at least one night a week most of the time two nights at either meetings, trainings, or working at the firehouse. He loves every minute of it and we have both gained some lifelong friendships since he joined about 10 years ago. He is still working at Cooper B-line in Highland, he has been there for about 5 years. He likes it, and tends to work alot of overtime in the summer. He loves to hunt just about anything. He hasn't had much luck so far catching the BIG ONE yet!!! He loves being a Dad, he took Colton "hunting" for the first time this year. Callye has him wrapped around her little finger.

I am working with the Probation Dept. here in Bond County and have been here a little over 10 years now. I love my job and the people I work with, don't get me wrong some days are stressfull but the good far outweighs the bad!!!! I stay busy outside of work, being the Clerk for the Village of Mulberry, sitting on the local fairboard, and I am the Director of the Fair Queen Pageant, as well as making sure the kids are where they need to be and taken care of. In my spare time (LOL) I like to scrapbook, read, and spend time with my friends and family. My girlfriends and I try to get together once a month for some adult time to catch up and relax.

Colton will be 4 in Feb, man where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday he was a baby in my arms and I was nervous about bringing him home and raising him. He started Pre-School in August and LOVES it. He goes 2 days a week to the local Christian Church. He has been learning alot more than I could ever imagine. He comes home with all kinds of fun art projects that they do in class and he has really gotten into reading since he started school. I have always tried to take time each day to read to both of them, but it seems with school he has gotten more interested. He played T-Ball this summer and that was a blast. I think Chad and I had more fun watching him and the other kids play than anything else. He never wanted to put the bat down after he hit the ball, he always held onto it while running to first base. He loves to play outside and ride his tractor that he got for his birthday last year. If it were up to him he would play outside 365 days a year.

Callye will be 2 in Mar, and it just makes me want to cry. My little girl is growing up so fast She keeps me on my toes and has developed her own little sense of humor as well as a little attitude of own here in the last 6 months. She is talking up a storm and has new things to say everyday! She loves to stay busy and play with anything, she doesn't care if it's a baby doll, stuffed animal, or one of Colton's tractors or dinosaurs. She jumps right in there and plays with Colton. She is becoming a bit of a daredevil I have caught her trying to climb up on the side of her crib to reach the bedroom light and turn it on. She is definatly a Daddy's girl, she has him wrapped around his finger. Chad will tell her to do something and she just tilts her head to the side and grins and says "No daddy". Chad tells her she has to and then she gets all upset. I can tell her no, or tell her to go to her room, but if Chad tells her it just breaks her heart :( She loves Elmo and dressed up like him for Halloween, she says my "mosmos". She can't seem to get the El in front of it.
